First race of the season!

Race Weekend Report: Strong Performances for Team #18 and #518

It was a weekend of high intensity, strategic maneuvers, and impressive development for both cars. Here is the breakdown of the action.

#18: Consistency and Podium Success

The regular pairing of Bart and Henk was bolstered by guest drivers Feye Hijts (Saturday) and Wout Sneppe (Sunday), resulting in a weekend defined by clean racing and podium achievements.

  • Qualifying: The team secured P10 Overall and P5 Pure class, with Wout showing promising pace.

  • Race 1: Feye delivered a composed opening stint with zero mistakes, followed by solid performances from Bart and Henk. Feye notably clocked the 5th fastest lap out of 113 drivers.

  • Race 2: Wout put on a masterclass, climbing to P4 Overall and taking the lead in the Pure class. He set the fastest lap in class and the 2nd fastest overall out of 110 drivers. Despite challenging rain, Bart and Henk maintained steady progress and kept the car spotless.

  • Result: The team walked away with two podium finishes in the ‘Petit 20’ class.

#518: Pace, Drama, and Resilience

The #518 crew demonstrated incredible speed and team synergy, overcoming significant setbacks to secure impressive results.

  • Qualifying: Leveraging smart teamwork, Lucas Taelman matched the lap time of the #280 car to secure a shared pole position.

  • Race 1: Lucas dominated the lead during his stint, keeping the team in the hunt for a top-3 overall finish. Despite a gravel trap incident that caused a temporary drop in position, the team fought back to finish inside the Top 15. Lucas secured the 2nd fastest lap time overall.

  • Race 2: Lucas controlled the pace early on, while strong stints from Zoë and Yan navigated the difficult wet conditions to maintain P3 Overall. Despite a costly 74-second stop-and-go penalty for pit lane speeding dropping them to P15, a heroic charge from Lucas—gaining 10 positions in under an hour—saw them cross the line in P5 Overall and P4 in class.

  • Individual Highlights: Lucas recorded the 5th fastest lap overall, while Zoë finished the event as the 1st female driver.
